July 18 - Israeli military vehicles crossed into the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, witnesses said, after reporting artillery fire in southern Gaza, according to Ma’an news agency.
Locals told Ma’an that several military vehicles were flattening land near the al-Zeitoun neighborhood west of Gaza City.
In south Gaza, witnesses said Israeli artillery fired several shells at lands east of Khan Younis. No injuries or damage were reported.
An Israeli military spokesperson said forces were conducting routine activity in the area, and had no reports of fire on south Gaza.
Israel regularly carries out airstrikes and occasional ground incursions into the Gaza Strip, which it has blockaded since 2007, despite a tacit truce with Hamas, which controls the territory.
Hamas has largely refrained from responding to Israeli provocations, but other resistance groups in the territory sporadically fire rockets in response to continued Israeli aggression.
