FARC Confirms Start of Colombia Peace Talks in Cuba

Havana, Sep 4 (Prensa Latina) - The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) confirmed today the start of peace talks with the Government to put an end to decades of armed conflict.

In the Havana Convention Center, representatives of FARC who attended exploratory dialogue conveyed a message by the leader of the guerrilla, Rodrigo Echeverri (a.k.a. Timoleon Jimenez, Timochenko).

He ratified they are going to the negotiating table without hard feelings and certain that the solution is not war, but civilized dialogue.

He also urged “all Colombians” to get on their feet and prevent a breaking-off in the peace talks.

Previously, from Bogota, President Juan Manuel Santos announced a framework agreement with FARC to start talks in the first two weeks of October in Oslo, Norway, and continue them later in Havana, Cuba.
