Havana, Oct 4 (Prensa Latina) - The secretary general of the Syrian Communist Party, Ammar Bagdach, criticized here the United Nations” role in his country”s current crisis, considering it a position subordinated to the US policy of interference.
During a visit to Havana following an invitation of Cuba’s Communist Party, the also Syrian lawmaker said that the positions adopted by the UN secretary general clearly shows that the international bloc responds with discipline to US instructions.
The United Nations has passed resolutions against Damascus government, in tune with Washington and its allies’ interests of imposing a change of regime, using as pretext the current spiral of violence in Syria caused by the actions of insurgent groups armed and finaced from abroad, added Ammar Bagdach in an interview with Granma daily.
With regard to Russia and China’s stance, opposed to anti Syrian resolutions, Bagdach called them convergent with the efforts of his country’s people to defend the national sovereignty.
According to the communist leader, a plot characterized by subversive actions and sabotages is being carried out in Syria, with the support of important international news agencies, and said that terrorist acts must be strongly punished by law.
Bagdach said that many measures have been taken in Syria to increase democratic liberties, including the abolition of martial laws and the proclamation of party and press laws, tough there are still many economic and social laws in his country that must be reviewed.
He also added that it is unacceptable for his party the attempt to reach a solution of commitment among patriotic and non patriotic forces in a nation hit by violence and a civilian population used as target of terrorist attacks.
