“This is a collection of excerpts from speeches and interviews by Viktor Ivanooich Anpilov, secretary of the central committee of the Russian Communist Workers Party (RKRP) and leader of Labor Russia.

"As a Soviet TV Correspondent in Cuba and Nicaragua in the 1980s, Viktor Anpilov saw firsthand the suffering inflicted on the people of Latin America by U.S. capitalist domination.

"In 1990, outraged by the pain that Mikhail Gorbachev’s capitalist economic reforms were causing the Soviet people, Anpilov resigned from state television to edit the anti-perestroika newspaper Molnya, now the organ of the RKRP’s central committee.

"In 1991 he helped found the RKRP, which attracted to its banner rand-and file Communists who refused to accept the banning of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU).

"In May 1993, after leading a militant demonstration on International Workers Day, he was kidnapped and beaten by a fascist police goon squad. In October 1993, he played a leading role in the defense of Russia’s elected parliament, for which he was imprisoned by the Yeltsin regime.

"In February 1994 mass pressure forced Russia's new parliament to free Anpilov and other imprísoned opposition leaders. Anpilov is among the best-known and most eloquent representatives of the growing movement to restore socialism and the Soviet Union.”
