Palestine solidarity spreads across New York metro area

The long war between the people of Palestine and the brutal Western colonial-settler project called Israel is more than a local battle

By Bill Dores

While the corporate agents in Washington pour arms and money into the Israeli war machine, oppressed people around the world stand with the people of Palestine. That solidarity has been loud and clear in cities across the United States in the weeks since Israel’s latest assault on the imprisoned people of Gaza.

In the New York metropolitan area, tens of thousands have taken to the streets of every borough and such neighboring cities as Paterson and Teaneck, N.J., and Yonkers and White Plains, N.Y., to support Palestinian resistance and demand an end to U.S. aid to the occupation regime.

Solidarity groups condemn anti-Palestinian hate and reject conflation of Palestinian rights with anti-Semitism

Palestine solidarity groups reject, as racist and defamatory, claims that the Palestinian liberation and solidarity movement is anti-Semitic. “We reject any equivalence between Jewish people and Israel or Zionism, and so we reject the racist contention that Palestinian identity and the Palestinian struggle for liberation and defense against Israeli violence is anti-Semitic,” said Fatin Jarara, member of Al-Awda and PYM, which are part of the NY4Palestine Coalition.

“Anti-Palestinian hatred and racism by (pro-) Israelis is so deeply normalized here even government officials engage in it regularly- from Schumer to Yang and Yeger. This city has an anti-Palestinian racism problem which is endemic to all sectors of society from courts to campuses to media. It is grossly unequal protection when a system is itself dedicated to mobilizing anti-Palestinian racism,” said human rights attorney Lamis Deek.

Thousands march through Queens, N.Y., in support of Palestinians

By Christina Santucci

Thousands of people marched through the streets of Queens from Sunnyside to Astoria Saturday afternoon in support of Palestinians. Within Our Lifetime – a Palestinian-led community organization that also held a large rally in Bay Ridge last week – organized the event.

Brooklyn rally declares: Palestine will win!

By Stephen Millies

Hundreds of people rallied in the Bay Ridge neighborhood of Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 8 to denounce the latest atrocities against the Palestinian people. Mobs of Zionist settlers screaming “death to Arabs” are trying to drive Palestinians out of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Al-Quds, the capital of Palestine.

Today as Joe Biden was getting inaugurated, 45-year old Palestinian political prisoner Maher Sa’sa died in the occupation’s Rimon prison, becoming the latest martyr in the Palestinian liberation struggle. Allah Yerhamo!

As of right now the full details of Maher’s death have not yet been made public, we know that all Palestinian prisoners who die in zionist detention are murdered by the occupation, whether directly or indirectly. While many are celebrating today, we are not because we know that U.S. support for the ongoing colonization, ethnic cleansing and genocide of Palestinians by the zionist entity will continue under Biden, who has pledged that U.S. military aid to israel will remain “unconditional.”

In 2016, during the last year of the Obama-Biden administration, they increased military aid to israel to $3.8 billion a year, the highest level in U.S. history. Today is not a cause for celebration, but a call to action.

#WeStandWithNerdeen: Take Action

By Within our Lifetime | United for Palestine (WOL)

As of Tuesday, September 22, WOL’s Chairperson and co-founder Nerdeen Kiswani has been under attack online by zionists who are shamelessly conflating anti-zionism and anti-semitism in an attempt to destroy her reputation and her role in the movement as one of the most prominent Palestinian organizers in NYC, across the US and around the world. After having been publicly attacked over the years by the likes of Ben Shaprio, Daniel Pipes and Roseanne Barr, Nerdeen is now getting attacked by another celebrity, the actor Michael Rappaport, who has 2 million followers on social media. Last week Rappaport took the lead in using his platform to escalate this latest smear campaign against Nerdeen, going as far as privately messaging her on Instagram threatening that he’s going to get her expelled from the CUNY School of Law where she is currently a 2L student.

The attacks being waged against Nerdeen by the likes of Rappaport, a racist, Islamophobic bully with a record of harassing women, along with an army of online zionist trolls, are rooted in the same conflation of anti-zionism and anti-semitism that we know is used at every turn to attack those who are struggling for the liberation of Palestine. Those who have organized in support of Palestinian liberation knows that while anyone who dares challenge zionism is a target for smear and attack, Palestinian organizers, especially Palestinian Muslim organizers, and women more than anyone else, are subjected to violence, abuse, threats and repression for their organizing work that others are not. This is why we are called upon to mobilize in Nerdeen’s defense.

Take action today in support of Nerdeen below, and help spread the word about #WeStandWithNerdeen by sharing this post widely with your friends!
